Enlightenment intensive is a workshop whose purpose is the direct spiritual experience of the truth, enlightenment, knowledge of self, experience of one’s true nature. Knowing one’s original nature is an entirely normal and natural state of consciousness. Enlightenment is part of the original plan. In case one faced with a myriad of different obstacles and failed to overcome them than the one will need some time to experience one’s true nature. One lost personal integrity. Such an experience is precisely possible in this workshop in just two days. It is in everyone’s nature to recognize one’s essence and essence of total existence. Each of us, consciously or unconsciously, is interested in the creation of this world. How was it built, and with what purpose? But many do not have time to deal with the most fundamental question, ‘Who am I?’. Therefore, one can live one’s dream and still feel empty.

What prevents enlightenment is the current state of consciousness (traumas, taboos, dogmas, etc.). There are levels of enlightenment, and all the differences between levels of enlightenment are in duration, which depends on the amount of transformed consciousness. Thus there is small satori (kensho) and satori. Kensho is a short overview of one’s true nature, followed by a new identification. Kensho is more related to three-day Enlightenment intensive. Satori is permanent enlightenment, after which there are no new identifications. Satori occurs after several years of practicing meditation technique, and it usually happens on a long-term Intensive (nine or more days). 



The idea about the existence of spiritual experience comes from the fact that everything observable represents a particular process. In other words, a specific frequency travels through a specific channel between the two extremes. Everything one observes it is transient, and transience can not exist without eternity. Observation consists of a subject, object, and communication channel. A subject is a person in whose center of attention is a particular object observed with specific sensory organ. The subject is an observer of the outside world, but by looking at the objects, one can not know anything about one’s nature. By observing, the subject meets the surface, but not the very being. Being can only experience itself directly. For example, can the eye see itself? Of course, it can not. Even if someone thought that was possible by using the mirror, one should know that in the mirror, one sees a pale reflection of the eye’s surface. The eye can only directly experience oneself. It’s the same with the man. 

Fundamental human capabilities are thinking, feeling, and willing one mainly uses in relation to the environment. The environment inspires an individual for self-cognition. Thinking, feeling, and willing are awaken under external influences. Therefore one has a very developed opinion of the outside world. Yet, knowledge of oneself is minimal, or there is none. The problem arises when one thinks one can know oneself by observing. It is absurd. It is impossible to achieve such an attempt. No one can observe oneself, but can only directly experience oneself. One can only observe personal experiences arising from memories concerning the outside world. That has nothing to do with one’s true nature. The direct spiritual experience of truth is beyond the reach of reason since reason is part of the process. The thought is the greatest democrat. Freedom of expression is unlimited because everyone can think whatever they want to believe. True knowledge lies in the experience.

Feelings, on the other hand, always approach. A man can only feel the world around, which includes memories because memory is observable. The memory is the result of experience with the outside world. The intention is, in turn, invisible to the one. One recognizes the intention through the consequences of one’s actions in the outside world. The intention is unstoppable, one directs it. However, if a person is not aware of one’s true nature, is not aware of one’s true identity, then the question is – who is the one who manages the intention. Man has learned to use the intention with the outside world. By intention, one achieves something in the outside world. In the context of the direct spiritual experience of the truth, one should redirect the intention. But, how to redirect intention toward the source of intention?

Since one’s childhood, one absorbs energies from the outside world. If enlightenment does not happen, the person continues to build “one’s own” world based on what one took from the world. Such a person does not understand what it means to make one’s own life based on one’s own decisions. The unaware person will only think that builds one’s own life. The one will live in an illusion. But, if one honestly looks at one’s experiences and one’s decisions, one will have to conclude that one’s life is built only from what one took. Usually, people fall into the trap of Ego, thinking that they know who they are and feel they manage their own lives. Still, Ego is nothing more than a false self-image. 

The answers to the question ‘Who am I?’ come with direct spiritual experience. But before that, all activities have to cease. Thinking, feeling, willing, intuition, memories, and everything related to the outside world need to stop. One cannot find the answer in books, movies, documentaries, and so on. 

There are no images, objects, names, etc. in the direct spiritual experience. Unlike the daily consciousness, when one builds an opinion based on what one felt in the environment, during the direct spiritual experience of the truth, there is no inspiration from the outside world. As long as the one is in the area of known, one certainly did not have a direct spiritual experience of the truth. The direct spiritual experience of truth is new, not experienced so far, because only as such can be fulfilling. 

Quantum mechanics says that each phenomenon can be presented as a wave or as a particle. The wave travels through space, while the particle is at rest. The fact is that the particle would not know of one’s existence without the wave, because the particle is static. The same way the human soul and human body belongs to the world of activities and direct spiritual experience of truth belongs to the world of nonactivity. Since everything in the manifested world rotates around the center, then the center must be static because otherwise, it would not be a center. It does not mean that all originate from the particle. Because the particle belongs to the outside world, it belongs to the domain of observation. The point here is to stress the existence of two opposites symbolically. The direct spiritual experience of truth is the opposite of all activities. 

When you throw a stone into the sea, the waves go out from the epicenter. By observing the waves, one will never figure out the source of the waves. Spider web has its center. By observing the web, one will never recognize the source. Everything in this world has its center, including human beings. Everything starts from one center, and the fundamental purpose of this workshop is the direct spiritual experience of the source. 



The direct spiritual experience of truth means that subject and object become one. A person has direct experience. The subject can not observe oneself. The most one can know by observing is a suit that one wears, but by observing the very being remains out of range. Observation includes subject and object, and the characteristic of the direct spiritual experience of truth is lack of observation, lack of subject and object. 

Even intuition is not a reflection of the direct spiritual experience of the truth, although the comparison is necessary regarding this terminology. Intuition is the information one finds more accurate than one can find with reason and logic. Rudolf Steiner, such a definition of intuition, called inspiration. The inspiration still falls within the domain of the process. What Rudolf Steiner called intuition, as can be concluded from the very concept, is that the intuition is direct knowledge, because intuition has nothing to do with the outside world. Intuition is the result of the direct spiritual experience of the truth. In-tuition comes from the very core of the being. 

It is impossible to debate it with those who have no such experience. Besides, experience, as such, is non-transferable even in the physical reality. One can not know the sea is wet until one jumps into it just as it is impossible to convey to someone how hard the stone feels like until one feels it. People that go through this kind of workshop gain an understanding of ‘secret knowledge’ and the general meaning of the term ‘knowledge.’ Knowledge is non-transferable, although it is today primarily presented as transferable. The name “secret” stems from the fact that it is not transferable, but one can only gain it by one’s forces. 



Each person goes through the human development phases, so at the moment of conception, one in total unconsciousness goes through the experience of the development of the body and collects experiences in the mother’s womb. After birth, one wakes up and continues to experience the growth of the body and further collects new experiences, but now in the waking state. Later on, one begins to deal with emotions. One still experiences body development and continues to receive new experiences, but now one has an awareness of inner life. At this stage, the one still has no developed ability to think for oneself. One’s life consists of copying the logical way of thinking. Only when one is emotionally mature enough and gained a sufficient amount of experience, one begins to build personal opinion and logic. Until that moment, the one was absorbing energies from the world. If enlightenment did not occur, the one will not be able to build one’s own opinion but will use what absorbed from the outside world. Everybody can easily verify these claims by asking the question: Out of my life experience and all that I have ever made, what is truly mine? Is there anything that I have not heard, seen, or felt, but came out of me alone? 

If human development progressed smoothly, enlightenment would happen naturally. If a person faced with too many obstacles that prevented personal growth, then the whole range of identification emerged. These identifications will be the reason why one will not be able to recognize one’s true nature. 

Thus, human development first happens internally and later on, is followed by a self-liberation and establishment of a relationship with the environment. Just as the plant first undergoes a process of development in the mud and afterward face the outside world. In the same way, the first human cell, the zygote, makes the first nine divisions within the original zona pellucida. Only after the first nine divisions, the expansion goes beyond the initial border of zona pellucida. Thus, each person goes through internal development up to the moment of awakening of one’s true nature. Afterward, human development continues in line with one’s center. Up to that moment, the external circumstances made sure that development reaches the degree of awakening. If one interfered in the plant’s growth, it would have never been so beautiful. In the same way, if instead of awaking of true human nature Ego takes place, then one can not make something original and beautiful. That certainly does not mean that the Ego is useless. However, if one is only ego-oriented without knowing one’s center, one will feel empty. 



Some of the consequences of direct spiritual experience, besides the experience of oneself, one’s center, and one’s true identity, are:

  • the one progress much faster than a person who does not know oneself,
  • the person becomes able to distinguish natural from unnatural, truth from false, 
  • the one can observe natural cosmic laws as they are – immutable universal laws, 
  • the one experience the world directly and without facade,
  • the one gains orientation, alignment, ease of solving difficult situations, ease of coming to a new understanding and recognition of what is happening in one’s environment, 

These are just some of the consequences of the direct experience of the truth. 



One does meditation in dyads. People sit in pairs opposite each other, practicing a meditation technique for direct spiritual experience of the truth. The program is very intense. It lasts all day, so people do not have time for anything except doing a meditation technique. The meditation technique is straightforward. It consists of several key steps: oneness with the object, intention for direct experience, open-mindness for the consequence of the intention, and communication of the content to the partner. 

Each pair consists of an active and passive partner. The active partner is the one that practices the meditation technique and communicates the content that occurs as a result of practice. Communicates it to the passive partner whose task is listening actively and understanding of active partner. The purpose of communication is to empty the consciousness of an active partner. The role of the passive partner is to be present. In such a way helps the active partner in untangling rational explanations. A passive partner helps the active partner to quickly and easily immerse in the direct spiritual experience of the truth. The creator of this technique is Charles Berner, who created it in a flash of inspiration. He was a connoisseur of various Eastern methods, of which one of them was an extended meditation in front of the wall without communication with another person. Charles Berner improved that technique with dyads. Zivorad M. Slavinski further enhanced it, adding the emotional aspect, which resulted in faster entry into the direct spiritual experience. Tomislav Budak complemented it with the energy work during meditation and included the concept of God as a koan. I went through Enlightenment Intensive with Tomislav Budak. Before I had reached the stage of permanent enlightenment, I have passed more than a dozen three-day enlightenment intensives and several nine-days enlightenment intensives.

Koan is a question on which the active partner meditates. The fundamental questions one is answering are ‘Who am I?’, ‘What am I?’, ‘What is another human being?’, ‘What is life?’ and ‘What is God?’. I added to this list the koan ‘What is the body?’.As all of these questions cover the primary areas of human attention, so the body falls into this category too since, without the body, one could not move through the world(s). One usually pays less attention to the body, but I recognized many benefits of working on that koan.

Each participant works on a personal koan. Those who participate in this program for the first time have to meditate on fundamental koans and afterward can choose whatever they like. One side effect of such work is the multiplication of energy, which happens when people gather together to walk the same path. Such energy levels alleviate participants to reach enlightenment. 

Obstacles stand between one and direct experience of the truth of who one is, of what life is, of what another human being is, etc. They occur as a direct consequence of practicing meditative technique – attempting to experience the direct spiritual experience of the truth. The obstacles are as a watchdog that keeps the path to the “castle of truth.” While the person is away from the castle, one does not know the watchdog exists. When one comes near the castle, the dog begins to bark out of the darkness, causing discomfort and anxiety. As one moves toward, a dog barks louder, and when one is in front of the castle, dog attacks and bites. At a time when one enters the castle of truth, barking fades, and all that preceded this moment looks like a fanciful dream.

Obstacles are human experiences not entirely accepted and lived as part of the soul, from the psychotherapeutic point of view. What creates the obstacle, it dis-creates it. The solution of the crisis leads to a crisis. The obstacles can be physical, emotional, mental, and intentional. Before arriving at the Enlightenment Intensive, one should not be misguided by the influence of the obstacle because the meaning of the obstacle is to prevent the participants from a change, hinder human progress. The obstacle is there to maintain existing and unwanted conditions. One should find inspiration in the obstacle for one’s growth, recognize one’s inabilities, and with one’s intention to overcome obstacles. If the obstacle manages to stop the one from a change than it says a lot about one’s power of intention. 





During Enlightenment Intensive, no conversation among the participants is allowed. The exception is communication while practicing the meditation technique. No listening to music, reading books, smoking, and similar activities. One can go to the toilet during breaks or as an active partner. One should take into consideration to others, because there are a lot of participants, and the number of toilets is limited. All consultations concerning direct spiritual experience one do with the master of Enlightenment Intensive. One should respect the defined timetable. People who are in an emotional relationship should not work together. 

During Enlightenment Intensive, the master is always right because the master is responsible for one’s success and the success of all participants.
